How To Be Happy – Philosophy
They say life happens in between what we plan…
…and my life has been planned to the brim as I continually relearn how to be happy, yet the universe sees fit to continually push me beyond my wildest dreams – even further than I thought possible. I didn’t even realize there was SPACE between my plans, but there is now. Not being someone to whine, complain, or spread drama, I won’t go into the details, but what I will say is that in light of all the “excitement,” I have witnessed profound transformation in my younger son, and my overall well-being is better than it ever has been. Everything else…I suppose…is water under the bridge.
I realize that it’s about new beginnings.
Then again, it’s always about new beginnings, in every moment. How to be HAPPY? Moving forward, constantly progressing toward what we truly desire…which simplistically speakingis happiness, fulfillment, and contributing to the greater good in a meaningful and powerful way. So, if it’s so simple, why does it often feel so daunting, surreal, and out of reach? Clearly it’s not for lack of effort, for if nothing else, persistence and obsession are our most natural virtues. But if life is “meant” to naturally flow (as if we could presuppose anything), and hard work doesn’t necessitate results…then what are we missing? Is it impatience, or perhaps old fashioned naiveté? Is it ignorance or arrogance? I surmise that it is none of these. In fact, I propose something far more dramatic, engaging and transformative.
If we accept that perception is everything (because it is), and our thoughts create our reality (because they do)…then all we require is recalibration.
Let’s remember that no matter what is happening in our lives…where weare is perfect – it is exactly where we have manifested our life to be…not based on physical manifestation, but on the experience of the moment. Put another way – how we feel right now, in this very instant, is the only barometer we need for determining our level of happiness and fulfillment, and clearly we can all embrace and express our gratitude for not only the power of the present moment, but our control over it. This moment is anything and everything we desire it to be…but it’s not chance or happenstance…
Our present moment is a DIRECT REFLECTION of who we have been being, and the actions we have been taking.
This moment is anything and everything we want it to be…we must merely choose it and release any societal connotations that our life is meant to feel or look a specific way – as if our current creation could ever be judged by those around us. Our intuition and spiritual guidance will assist us in finding everything we desire, but we often spend far too much time looking outside of ourselves for everything we think we desire. All we truly desire…everything we have always desired…exists here within us, available to us at any time…and all we have to do is expand our awareness and embrace the power of the moment before us.
How to be happy?
Remember, our present moment is a reflection of the past – to change the future, we must change the present moment.
Many blessings to you as always,
Seth

It wasn’t until I read Manual for Living that I started practicing living in the moment, all I can say is IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the level of contentment I feel. I used to be depressed 80% of the time, not anymore! I’ve been practicing living in the moment for a couple of years now I believe and when I feel myself going “down” I realize I am not “in the moment”, I’ve let my mind drift either to the future or the past- I snap myself out of it by thinking of the Power that resides inside of me. Your words ring so true to me!!! Blessings and love to you and your family.
